FAQ

What does "ETX" mean?   If you ask this question, you must not be from ETX!  ETX stands for where we're from... "East Texas"!  Our offices are located in Lindale and our roasting facility is located in Tyler.

What's your mission?   Connect + Inspire + Give Back                                                                                                                                                            We are not just in the coffee business, we're in the people business!  So we enjoy connecting and developing intentional relationships with our coffee community and strive to inspire our community to live a life of purpose, because we believe life is too short to be ordinary!  We are also driven by the desire to give back to our country's LEGENDS, our Veterans who make selfless sacrifices on the daily.

Who do you give back to?   We donate a portion of our profits to a variety of organizations that support Veterans with PTSD.

Will you consider giving back to other organizations?   Living with PTSD is the backbone of our journey that led to the creation of ETX Legends Coffee Co.  So at this time, we continue to be focused on supporting the mental health of our Veterans and the organizations that support these efforts.

What exactly is "specialty coffee" anyways?   Specialty coffee is a term used to refer to coffee beans that have scored over 80 points on a 100 point scale, as established by the SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America).  All of our coffee beans are specialty grade beans.

What is so special about "small batch roasted" coffee?   Our small batch refers to the way our coffee is roasted, in "small batches" roasting 50 pounds of coffee at a time.  This allows for more control and precision in the roasting process which allows for peak flavor profiles.  This also means we keep a low inventory to ensure our coffee is at it's freshest state when shipping to you.

What roasting method do you use?  Our roastmaster uses a traditional roasting method which is using direct heat and runs on natural gas.

What processing method is used once the coffee beans are harvested?  We carry all three of the most common processes which are washed, semi-washed and natural.  The method utilized depends on the coffee selection.

Any tips for keeping my coffee fresh?   The key to optimal storage is to avoid light, humidity and heat.  Keep your beans sealed in a dark, cool, dry location. Our bags were purposefully designed with a valve to allow carbon dioxide to escape from inside the bag without allowing oxygen to enter in.  Our bags were also specifically designed with dark colors to avoid the compromise of light and include a tin tie designed to block moisture or oxygen from contaminating fresh beans or grounds.

Once opened, how long will my coffee last?   Once our bags are opened, we suggest consuming the coffee within 2-3 weeks to maintain optimal taste. If you're like us, you'll be lucky if it lasts that long!
